Get Ready, Owls!

If you missed our annual hike up Mount Monadnock, this is your chance to join us up to the summit of the second most climbed mountain in the world, but during sunrise! This moderate to intense hike offers breathtaking 360-degree views that are sure to be a highlight on many bucket lists, including the Keene bucket list!

Sunday November 3rd, we’ll gather at Hoot and Scoot at 3:15 AM and will depart promptly at 3:30 AM. Make sure to arrive a bit early so we can get everyone organized and ready for our adventure!

Our estimated time we’ll be back in Keene is 12:30 PM

  • Capacity: 20 students

  • Cost: Free!

We’ll be taking personal vehicles for this adventure. If you’re comfortable driving or would like to become a certified defensive driver, please reach out via email to KSC.OutingClub@keene.edu or Abigail.Bauer@keene.edu

We’ll follow the White Dot Trail, the most popular route, which features a challenging 3.8-mile loop. Expect to spend about three hours on this rewarding hike.

What to Bring:

  • Clothing & Footwear: Dress appropriately for the weather, it will be cold and windy

  • You will need to have warm layers, proper hiking boots, headlamp, and a day pack to carry food and water

  • If you’re unsure about what to wear, feel free to contact our hiking coordinator at Harrison.freel@keene.edu or (401)410-4104.

  • Snacks: There will be time at the top to relax, enjoy the stunning views, and refuel with a snack.

We will be holding a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Wednesday, October 30th, at 8 PM in Science 126. During this meeting, we’ll dive deeper into trip details, including gear, clothing, snacks/water etc.
