11/4- Ann Stokes Loop

Sign up below!

Hey fellow hikers! Get ready for an epic adventure as we embark on our sixth hike in our series! We're meeting up at the student center at 9 am, from there, we'll head to the trailhead. Our plan? To conquer the loop, of course! We'll make a pit stop at the top for a well-deserved water and snack break while soaking in those breathtaking views. Trust us; it's worth it! We will return to campus around 11:30.

This 2.3 mile loop trail near Hinsdale, New Hampshire is considered a moderately challenging loop, taking a little over an hour to complete.

Colder weather hiking is upon us! Preparing for hiking in colder weather is essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience. Here's a short guide on how to stay warm on the trails:

  1. Layer Up: Dress in layers to trap heat effectively. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away from your skin, add an insulating layer for warmth, and finish with a waterproof and windproof outer layer to protect against the elements.

  2. Warm Accessories: Don't forget warm accessories like a beanie, gloves, and a scarf or neck gaiter. These help retain heat and keep extremities cozy.

  3. Proper Footwear: Invest in insulated and waterproof hiking boots to keep your feet warm and dry. Wear moisture-wicking socks to prevent sweat buildup, which can lead to cold feet.

  4. Know the Weather: Check the weather forecast and be aware of any potential storms or severe drops in temperature. Plan your hike accordingly, and be prepared to turn back if conditions worsen.

  5. Stay Dry: Moisture can lead to rapid heat loss. Use waterproof gear, like a rain jacket and pants, to stay dry. Consider gaiters to keep snow out of your boots.
