Sign up below!

Hey there, seasoned hikers! Can you believe it's already our seventh hike in this incredible series? Get ready to hit the trails again because we're meeting up at the student center at 9 am, just like old times. Our mission remains the same: conquer that loop and savor those panoramic views. We'll make sure to be back on campus around 12.

This 3.5 mile loop trail near Nelson, New Hampshire is considered a moderately challenging route. Taking an average of 1h 45 minutes to complete.

Colder weather hiking is upon us! Preparing for hiking in colder weather is essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience. Here's a short guide on how to stay warm on the trails:

  1. Layer Up: Dress in layers to trap heat effectively. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away from your skin, add an insulating layer for warmth, and finish with a waterproof and windproof outer layer to protect against the elements.

  2. Warm Accessories: Don't forget warm accessories like a beanie, gloves, and a scarf or neck gaiter. These help retain heat and keep extremities cozy.

  3. Proper Footwear: Invest in insulated and waterproof hiking boots to keep your feet warm and dry. Wear moisture-wicking socks to prevent sweat buildup, which can lead to cold feet.

  4. Know the Weather: Check the weather forecast and be aware of any potential storms or severe drops in temperature. Plan your hike accordingly, and be prepared to turn back if conditions worsen.

  5. Stay Dry: Moisture can lead to rapid heat loss. Use waterproof gear, like a rain jacket and pants, to stay dry. Consider gaiters to keep snow out of your boots.
